Swapping seats during the game
Anyone had any bother nipping into a better seat that is clearly not being used?

Didn't bother last year but fancy ducking and diving around the stadium this year. With the seats being white it's easy to target decent empty ones. Would other punters grass to the stewards?

Just wondered......

Done it a few times. Better atmosphere and view of the game.

Although people sitting near the front seem to get the right arse ache about it when you sit in a seat that is clearly not being used by anyone.

they must prefer the leg room.

I don't think the stewards particularly mind- might be different if you're headed to expensive seats in a different block to the one on your ticket though, and they ask to see it.

As for sitting in an empty seat I think as long as it isn't anyone else's for that game then it's fair game as long as you don't act like an arsehole to the people who already sit there (i.e. sit and moan if it's a standing block, stand up and swear if it's a sitting block) If you behave ok and someone grasses you then it's a bit pathetic.

However unless your own seat is really shit (like row 72) then is it worth the bother going around hunting for empty seats when the game is on?

I did it a few times last year - one of the few benefits of the new place is being able to move around it.

Never had any trouble, but then again I moved to areas where everyone was standing.

Just tell them you're a paid seat-filler. For the sake of appearance of the place on television, like.

I did it for the 1st half of the season. My seat was crap, so I went and stood with some mates in the 1st row behind the goal until West Ham moved me to 10 rows behind the corner flag.

looks better when we are on the TC anyway. All the plastics dont turn up so why not go down and take their seat?

At least it looks a bit better when they announce a sell out and there is clearly only 40k in the stadium.

Apparently they are issuing paper tickets for the Bolton game to help the stewards check against people moving blocks.

Most games last season, first half in my seat in the top tier, then after going to the bar at half time just walk in the bottom tier and stand with them next to the away fans

Yup- all paper tickets.

'Please Note for Cup Matches all General Admission Tickets will be paper tickets - Not added to access cards'

Seems like a lot of cost and hassle to keep people in a certain seat. I suppose for cup games you're going to get a lot of people not in their usual seats and a lot of people who wouldn't usually go, so there's the possibility of total chaos and loads of arguments over who has the right to sit in whatever seat.

Re: Swapping seats during the game
Moving to a better, empty seat can only help the atmosphere and help the players on the pitch. They should be encouraging it, not dreaming up ways of stamping it out.

El Scorchio 2:18 Wed Sep 6
Re: Swapping seats during the game
I think they won't encourage it because it would lead to total chaos and probably tonnes of fights breaking out with people just sitting where they like regardless of whether the seat is actually free for the game or not, and then refusing to move when the actual ticket holder shows up

Also a few empty seats isn't a good look, but nor is tens of thousands of people milling about in the stands looking for places to sit for 20 plus minutes, and having to moving umpteen times if they see a better seat.

It also means no one will ever bother buying a band one or two ticket, so the club will lose shitloads of revenue.

It's because of the uproar after the Chelsea game when there were about 10k of us in one little block. Quality night

Re: Swapping seats during the game
Not sure how true it is but I heard that their are supporters buying band 4/ 5 season tickets and never sitting in their seats ,they just basically use the season ticket to access the stadium ,and hang around for empty seats lower tier

That's what I had in mind. I picked up a seat for peanuts thinking that it would get me into the ground. Might have to sit in it for Spurs etc but other games I'd nip into a decent seat or a standing block. Anyone ever tried watching the screen from the party deck? Seems to big and close but could be ok. We'll see.

I am sure it is against stadium rules but good luck

If you're unlucky you'll get kicked out. It happened to a few people particularly at beginning of last season and around the "standing" corners.

You'll be fine - no way will you get kicked out for it.

I sat in one of the press seats last year. A journalist asked to see my pass. "Fuck off" seemed to work.

Re: Swapping seats during the game
Everyone does it at the Camp Nou, no one gives a shit.
I have had people ask me to move, they were very polite and I just moved to another free seat near by.
Come to think of it perhpas it was not even their seat and they were trying it on?
Never tried in the tribunal or press area though. Fair play to CamHam. Perhaps I will practice my VETE A LA MIERDA and give it ago.
